J.T. (Jim) Turner, Jr.
Jim Turner was a letterman at Thomasville High School in baseball and basketball in 1967, 1968, and 1969. While in high school, he was an energetic student involved in activities such as HI-Y, Student Council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Leader's club, Interact, Y club, and Youth Assembly. He was President of his junior class, received the Callaway Leadership Award his junior year and was a Senior Superlative. He is a graduate of Mercer University in Macon and is presently an active board member of Mercer University Board of Trustees and is committed to their athletic program.
Although Jim participated and excelled in sports programs in Thomasville from the early days of YMCA ball through his senior year in high school, he is truly more recognized as an avid aports fan, respected business leader and a tireless volunteer in the communities he has lived. Those who have had the privilege of knowing Jim recognize that one of his highest priorities is giving back to the community. His leading example of showing the importance of serving one's community has led to employees of the company he founded, J.T. Turner Construction, to be involved in over 75 different non-profit organizations on a local, regional, and national scale. His dedication to giving back to the community even inspired a group of young professionals within his company to reach out to the award winning television series Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to select a family in the Coastal Empire that gives back to the community themselves and provided them a much needed safe haven to raise their family.
