Alex Mash
An All-Region and All-State defensive end on the Thomasville Bulldogs football squads his junior and senior seasons, Alex Mash was a key player on the Dogs’ 1988 state championship team.
He would go on to excel while playing at Georgia Southern University, where he was a four-year letterman and part of the Eagles 1990 national championship team. In the title game against Nevada, Mash had an interception return for a touchdown.
Mash’s accomplishments while at Georgia Southern were extensive. He was named to the Kodak All-American team in 1992. In 1993, the Eagles finished second nationally and won their conference. Mash earned First-Team All-Southern Conference honors in 1993 and was chosen as the league’s Defensive Player of the Year. Mash still ranks second on the Eagles all-time sacks list (25) and third all-time in GSU history in recovered fumbles (5).
A member of the Georgia Southern Athletics Hall of Fame, Alex played in the Canadian Football League for the Shreveport Pirates in 1994 and 1995. He resides in Shreveport, LA with his wife Katherine and their four children: Tredon, Joseph, Alex III, and Michael.
